New service - If you have a power cut, call 105

On 6th September a new national phone number “105” was launched by electricity network operators for customers to call should they need to report or get information about a power cut in their area.

Key points to note about this service are:
• Dialling 105 will put customers through to their local electricity network operator – the company that manages the cables, power lines and substations that deliver electricity into homes and businesses in their area.
• 105 is just one of the ways that customers can contact their electricity network operator. They can also contact them by phone or via their website, and most network operators are on social media too.
• 105 is a free service for people in England, Scotland and Wales.
• Customers can call 105 no matter who they choose to buy electricity from.
• Customers can also call 105 if they spot damage to electricity power lines and substations that could put anyone in danger. If there’s a serious immediate risk, they should call the emergency services too.

Neighbourhood Plan Update

Chelmsford City Council formally designated the Neighbourhood Area for Danbury at the Development Policy Committee on 9th June 2016.

You can help decide the planning policies and regulations that will apply to all future planning applications in the village, whether they relate to buildings or open spaces.  The Danbury Neighbourhood Plan needs the involvement of every resident to ensure that it meets the needs of the whole village.

The Parish Council has started the process for a Neighbourhood Plan but the plan cannot be produced without the input of local people.  Neighbourhood Plans are community led documents and as many representatives of the local community as possible must be involved.  This includes: residents, businesses, local groups, landowners and developers.

Once adopted, the Danbury Neighbourhood Plan will contain planning policies and site allocations which will be used by City Council planning officers when making decisions on planning applications in the Parish.  This is a unique opportunity to ensure that decisions made in Danbury truly reflect the ambitions and needs of local residents and businesses.

Important Changes to the Local Bus Service Network in Essex

Changes to the Local Bus Service from 10th April

From the 10th April 2016 there will be important changes to many of the routes, timetables and service numbers of bus services in Essex.

Passengers, particularly those using the bus to go to school or work, are strongly recommended to check for the revisions using the National Traveline Service, available at: www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk shortly before undertaking their journey, so that they are aware of any changes that have been made.

The majority of dedicated school contract services, which are not open for use by the general public will not be affected.

Are you interested in making a real difference in your local community, helping people to live and feel safer?

Do you want to volunteer with both Essex County Fire and Rescue Service AND Essex Police?

Our two services are working together to launch a brand new volunteer scheme! We are looking to recruit two Parish Safety Volunteers per Parish in Essex, tasked with arranging and conducting home safety visits. These volunteers will deliver crucial fire and crime prevention advice, extensive knowledge of local support services and the ability to fit smoke detectors directly into the homes of those most in need.

If you’re interested, you’ll need to apply for interview and be required to undertake Essex Police vetting. You will receive comprehensive training from both Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and Essex Police, a full uniform and all equipment required to carry out the role. To ensure volunteers are well supported, Parish Safety Volunteers from across the county will be invited to on-going training and networking opportunities throughout the year.”

Essex County Council Bus Review Results

Consultation on bus services run by Essex County Council

Please see below from Essex County Council:

Dear Stakeholder,

As you may recall Essex County Council carried out a countywide consultation over the spring to allow people to tell us what aspects of the bus network they valued and where areas for improvement might be. This consultation closed on 31st March. We are now able to publicise the results of the consultation which can be viewed by accessing the web link below.

In addition, you may recall we carried out a series of Area Review meetings across Essex during June and the beginning of July to assist with our network planning process. A copy of the presentation slides used at these meetings have also been added to the web link below, along with a copy of a document outlining alternative transport options that could be used (“How Transport Could be provided”) and copies of the strategy documents, recently approved by Cabinet.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for attending the meetings, and help to promote the public afternoon sessions. We are now collating the information we received during the Area Review meetings, and the afternoon public sessions and a further consultation will be carried out early Autumn.
