Finance Information

Parish Council operations and services are primarily funded through the Council Tax paid by residents of Danbury.  Additional income is generated by the Parish Council through the hire of facilities including football pitches, cricket wickets and allotments.

Each year the council undertakes a budget setting process which begins in the autumn, during which time the anticipated income and expenditure for the following year is calculated and reviewed.  The amount received by the Parish Council is calculated each year by way of a budget setting process. This process takes into account the statutory commitments the Parish Council has to its residents as well as upcoming projects, and arrives at a figure known as the precept. The final budget is approved by the Parish Council by the end of February and the figure required to be collected as part of the Council Tax – known as the Precept – is set.

The Council Tax paid by the residents of the parish of Danbury is collected by Chelmsford City Council.

Information regarding Council Tax and the fund distribution to Essex County Council, Chelmsford City Council, the Police Authority and the Fire and Rescue Authority can be found on your individual Council Tax bill or by visiting the council tax area of Chelmsford City Council’s website.

Asset Register

Parish Councils must maintain an asset register to ensure fixed assets are appropriately safeguarded. Once recorded on the asset register, the value of assets must not change from year to year until disposal. Concepts of depreciation and impairment adjustments are not appropriate for local councils.  For more information, please visit the Asset Register page.

Community Grants

The Parish Council awards community grants through an application process to the Grants Working Party.  For more information, please visit the Community Grants page.
