November 2007: COUNCILLOR JULIAN BROOKS

It is with great sadness that the Parish Council has to report that Cllr Julian Brooks passed away unexpectedly on Friday 9th November 2007.

Julian was a Member of the Council for 13 years and carried out sterling work for the village during that time. The Council extends its deepest sympathy to his family.

November 2007: REMEMBRANCE DAY in DANBURY

The annual Remembrance service took place in Danbury Parish Church on 11 November 2007, and was followed by a procession to the War Memorial at Elm Green for the laying of wreaths.

ESSEX BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION 2007
Danbury has won First place in its class in the annual Best Kept Village competition sponsored by Calor.
The Clerk, Margaret Saunders, along with Councillor Alan Keeler, one of the Parish Council's longest serving members, collected the certificate and plaque at an award ceremony on 11 July.

March 2007: ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
This year's Annual Parish Meeting was held on Monday 26 March in the
Village Hall.

November 2006: NEW COUNCILLORS for DANBURY PARISH COUNCIL
At its meeting on 29th November, the Parish Council co-opted three new members to fill vacant positions. Welcome to David Bolwell, John Langley and Alan Wells! Further details of the new councillors, and all councillors, can be found on our Parish Councillors page.

Our village was Runner Up in the Calor Essex Best Kept Village Competition (Class 1) 2006.Parish Clerk Margaret Saunders received the Certificate on behalf of the village at an award ceremony on 12 July . Click here to see a larger photo and the certificate.
Congratulations also to the winner of Class 1- Great Dunmow.

Keith Parsons, for 22 years Headteacher of St John's Church of England Primary School in Little Baddow Road, retires at Easter. Sue Dobson, a Parent Governor of the school, has written this report.

Mrs Lambert, a life-long village resident and Danbury's longest serving Parish Councillor, received a Community Award from Chelmsford Borough Council for her contribution to the environment of the village in organising the annual 'Litter Pick'. The three village Primary schools, Danbury Park, St John's and Heathcote, were 'Highly Commended' in the Neighbourhood Awards for their part in the 'Litter Pick'.


September 2005: NEW YOUTH CLUB FOR DANBURY
Calling all 13-16 year olds! The 'Drop-In Cafe 4 Kidz' is open on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm. More information here.

November 2004: NEW BOROUGH COUNCILLOR for Little Baddow, Danbury and Sandon
Bob Shepherd (Conservative) joins Ian Wright and Christopher Kingsley as a Borough Councillor representing Danbury on Chelmsford Borough Council. Full results are available for a while on the Borough Council's website.


October 2004: PLANNING APPLICATION AT DANBURY PALACE
Danbury Parish Council submitted its comments to Chelmsford Borough Council on Anglia Polytechnic University's plans to convert Danbury Park Conference Centre, including the Palace, for residential use. Read the Council's submission (pdf file)

September 2004: "DANBURY TIMES" WINS AWARD !
Click for full imageDanbury Parish Council's newsletter has been placed in the top five in the 2004 Local Council Review Newsletter of the Year Awards. The September edition of the Local Council Review gives the results as Claygate Courier (1), Nettleham News (2), Melbourne Magazine (3), About Town (4), and Danbury Times (5). Five other newletters were Commended.
The Review says that the winning newletters "all successfully communicate the key messages of their councils, all are colourful, lively and interesting, all make use of concise writing and all have an easy-to-read design".
