AUTUMN 2008: DANBURY'S PLAYING FIELDS WIN AGAIN !

Thanks to the year-round hard work of the Parish Council's Groundsman, Robin Dickens, Dawson Memoiral Field has won the Essex Playing Fields Association Shield for the 3rd year running.

Under the care of Robin, and the Council's Facilities Committee, Danbury's playing fields have regularly won awards and commendations over several years. Works are currently on-going to improve the quality and drainage of the fields, and, in due course, of the adjacent car parks.

ESSEX BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION - July 2008
Danbury has again won First place in its class in the annual Best Kept Village competition sponsored by Calor. The Vice-Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Mike Wood, collected the certificate and plaque at an award ceremony in July.

Danbury gets to keep the Best Kept Village sign, located at Elm Green, for another year, and will received another commemorative plaque and certificate.

Parish meeting 08ANNUAL PARISH MEETING - April 2008
This year's Annual Parish Meeting was held at the Village Hall on 21 April 2008. The guest speaker was Richard Wallace, National Trust Warden. Many Danbury organisations had stalls about their activities, and refreshments were served before the formal meeting. Read our report here.

NEW PARISH COUNCILLOR for Danbury

The Council has co-opted Steve Freeman onto the Council, filling the vacancy caused by the sudden death of Cllr Julian Brooks last November. The Council now has its full complement of 15 members once more.
