Eves Corner Pond gets a Makeover!

February 2010

The volunteers assembleOn 1st and 8th February 2010 a stalwart group of volunteers, wrapped up warmly against the freezing temperatures, broke the ice on the pond at Eves Corner and set to work to clear some of the overgrowth of reeds.

The work was organised by the conservation volunteers group BTCV who provided the necessary expertise and equipment as well as, importantly, hot drinks!  They were assisted by a number of residents (including some parish councillors!) who had volunteered to share in the task of improving the appearance of the pond before Spring arrives.

Hopefully, they are enjoying having a larger area of open water and an improved view of their surroundings, while enough reeds remain to provide cover and support other wildlife.
